Life on The Brightside with The Killers
Most of you probably know that I love The Killers. I find myself listening to their songs every day…for the past 2 years I would say. There is just a special connection & energy with them or something.

Does anyone else have a band that you feel this way about? I’m talking about admitting that you think about it way too much… I remember switching back n’ forth between Jay Leno and David Letterman one night on TV, and I saw the Killers perform “Somebody Told Me” on Letterman. By the way, I never watch any bands or singers perform, mostly because I don’t care, or if I do catch a glimpse I don’t like their music. But I saw them perform and that song is so catchy. I was hooked. The music and the look just reeled me in. Plus some say I kind of look like Brandon (lead singer) - maybe a little , but I’m honored
He pretty much is just like me. I’ve seen him in person (within 20 feet) two times, but didn’t get a chance to talk with him (I did talk at him lol). It’s like he is a small guy who is typically very quiet but he can light up on stage and become unattainable. He actually is about 2 inches shorter than me. I like that he doesn’t talk much on stage, and rarely off either, but I do enjoy the quick interview I can find on youtube so I can see what he thinks. Again, I find a connection there.

This picture on the left is a few years ago, probably when he was 23. (I’m 20 now). He grew out his mustache for the 2nd album and a lot of people didn’t like it. I don’t mind either way really, but I found out he grew it because he finally grew hair on his face period,
Dave, the lead guitarist said Brandon was becoming a man. It took him a few years after everyone else, but that is just Brandon. That sums him up.
So I’m wondering if there is a band that you hooked on!? As soon as they release their next album, I’m gonna be all over their songs on the piano and hopefully have them all within a month! Can’t wait.

No, I don’t have such band, but one friend of mine has. She is hooked on Linkin Park and she even thinks she’s Chester (the lead singer). But I didn’t tell you anything, right?

I actually do have a similar feeling about The White Stripes. I really enjoy all of their music because of it’s authenticity and originality. In my opinion Jack White is one of the last really great creative talents that we have left in music (even though recently I’ve felt the same way about One Republic). In fact I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind posting some ”How To Play” videos on youtube featuring some of the white stripes on piano. I’ve been playing piano for a little while now but still don’t have the ear for exactly what keys are played, and your videos have helped me a lot. I know that a lot of their music is pretty simple. Thanks a lot!
Songs- I’m Lonely (but i aint that lonely yet), My Doorbell, This Protector.

Hmm I feel just the same way about the killers, it’s just something there that i connect with. I saw them on a tvshow a few years ago, and there was something that catched me. I listen to their music everyday and often i just think about what they do RIGHT NOW, it’s kinda weird but they changed my life for sure.
I think i know everything about them, most about brandon! And the strange thing is that i compare myself to him aswell, and since i am a guy it’s easier too. I feel we’re much alike many places.
He inspired me to play keyboard aswell, so here i am today playing keyboard:D
for me The killers are not just a band, they mean something personal and special for me!
Someday i’m going to meet them, can’t wait:)

Most definitely…I’ll get stuck on a band and just listen to some of the same songs over and over. Regina Spektor, The Killers, Taking Back Sunday, Death Cab, the Postal Service, Say Anything is who I’m stuck on at the moment. The Is a Real Boy album to be exact, Coldplay, Brand New, …I could go on forever. I love that you’ve put videos on Youtube because I’ve always wanted to learn piano. It’s the only instrument my dad can’t teach me to play because he never learned. I just recently bought a piano. I would watch your videos a couple of times and then I’d go to Guitar Center on one of my days off and I’d just mess around with their keyboards and that’s how I learned. I can now put different cords from different songs together and I’m now making my own music. I really appriciate you doing this. You are very talented and I know you’ve heard that many times over, but it’s true, you are so talented and keep it up

I taped “Later…with Jools Holland” to see The Killers.
But there was also a band called Air Traffic on there that I became obsessed with. Thank goodness I taped it because I watch it every day. Air Traffic and The Killers are my obsession. Air Traffic– great piano rock.

The Killers are my favourite band; Just as (I think) Brandon once said in an interview that U2 wouldve converted a 14 year-old boy to rock music with Vertigo, The Killers converted me to rock music when I was 14!
Brandon Flowers is quite charismatic and I guess him along with Timbaland are my two idols. The thing with music is that I love it - this isn’t some teenage phase for me (i want to be a music producer and also have a dream to have a rock band lol), so the magic and that feeling I get from the band’s music is amplified (literally also haha).
You’re lucky that you’re in such close vicinity of cool rockstars.. I live in Australia. I’ve seen them in concert twice and I can honestly say atleast one of the times would be in my best experiences ever.
You’re also very lucky in that you have the skill, so that you can actually play pop(ular) music. I started playing the piano when I was 11 and stopped after 2 years. I regret that I stopped because it really wouldve helped me in becoming a better pop/r&b producer, AND it couldve made my dream to be in a rock band a reality (despite imagining me being a singer, i dont think im much of one haha)
Anyway i’ll end this essay of a comment and just want to say stick at it - you could definately apply yourself to Brandon’s situation and be a lead singer and synthesizer play haha. God speed!

The Killers are awsome
I love the song “When you were young”
but I do have to say that I feel the same way, except my passion is for Panic At The Disco. Ever since I heard their first song one day at a slumber/b-day party at 3AM i became hooked. I then bought their first album “A Fever You Cant Sweat Out” and I fell in love with every song.
I’ve been hooked for about 2 1/2 years. I dont think I’ll ever not like them lol.

Yeah. Panic at the disco.

Their new album is really, orchestal. It’s brilliant.
Their old one was more techno-ish.
Majorly.
I love the killers htough, and the tutorial you did for Mr.Brightside was amazing. I’ve never really played paino outside of music class, and i saw that video and decided to have a go.
It was awesome, great job with that BTW.
But you know who else? The Beatles.
I love The Beatles!
