Ryan and the Youtube Partner Program…fingers crossed
![]()
Time to let my viewers know what’s going on with me…I applied to the Youtube Partner Program a few minutes ago and I have my fingers crossed. I’ve known about it for awhile but didn’t waste my time applying because I have about a 1% chance of being accepted. This is because my videos are copyrighted music. Most big publishers have agreements with Youtube now allowing their music to be shown and they get a cut of advertising revenue. Thats great news, but I have been planning in the past year to make a site dedicated to teaching piano songs, and I would get them licensed and revenue from my website. So to sum that up - on Youtube I get nothing, and if I only published it on my own site I would get some revenue. The hard part is that I am a little guy and Youtube is a giant - they are able to make blanket deals with publishers allowing all songs to be used. An individual like me has to clear each individual song and have to negotiate terms - there is no set fee. That takes time, money, and uncertainty. The program on Youtube is only for big videos that bring in tens of thousands of views daily like mine do. I have over 12.4 million total views, 150 videos, and 22,000+ subscribers. I am what they are looking for…but my videos cannot contain content partially owned by someone else (and they do… the artists). But when I applied you get to type a message as to why you are applying. I said I realize someone like me would not be accepted normally, but I am in the process of deals with these publishers to make this content only on a personal site. If we can come to an agreement, I will have reason to continue to post these highly valuable videos on Youtube with a share between the publishers, Youtube, (and me). That is not exactly what I said because I cannot remember, but it went along those lines. I’ll let you know what happens. If they accept, it will basically be my job and I will have a new video every 3 days!

Just to help clarify, if they don’t accept that does not mean I am quitting the youtube videos - I enjoy what I do and still earn income from ads on the sites I direct to such as this one.
So, don’t be worried! But, if they do accept, you can be excited as well because that means I’ll be working on songs every day!

I hope YouTube realizes how much an influence you on their site and the fact that you have amazing talent and potential.
I hope everything goes well, Ryan.

Hi,
I just discovered your youtube posts, they are great.
I see you are trying to partner, well, I don’t think you will get it, first of all, you are already advertising your sites and your DVD, so people who are visiting your videos are probably visiting your “playpianodvd” website…and likely not visiting any google links.
Well, best of luck, you have a great idea going… I am considering buying the same keyboard you have….wasted time on the internet could be used playing/practicing/learning how to play or read music.
best of luck…

Ryan,
I just saw your piano video on Youtube of you jamming to The Killers, When You Were young.
That was honestly one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. You have talent! Keep up the good work because you’re going to do great things with your talent.
Best of luck!

You are awesome! I love playing the piano but i don’t know how to read music, i don’t even know which notes are which! haha. I’ve learned all the songs i know because of you on youtube. I just wanted to let you know how appreciative i am that you do this because piano means a lot to me and i don’t know how else i would be able to play. I also have a request… I really would like to learn to play Everything by Michael Buble. I looked on Youtube but everybody else sucks at teaching. haha. if you could that would be awesome! Thank you so much and good luck
