Next you can learn about the minor scales, which is a bit more difficult. Any major scale typically has a happy, energetic feeling while a minor scale has a more serious or sad mood. Once you try the flash program below, here is the link to see my diagram of all 12 major scales.
The minor scales (plural) take just a bit longer to learn than the major scale, mostly because there is more than one. Notice that in the key of A minor in the demonstration below, all of the keys are white. Remember in C major all of the keys are white. This is because of how the whole and half steps are setup. The major scale has a WWH, WWWH interval system. (W=whole; H=half) You will see the differences in the minor scales.
